7th CRAWLEY CUB PACK

SPRING TERM PROGRAMME 2014 (Issued December 2013)

We shall be starting the new term on Tuesday, 14th January when we shall be welcoming a group of new members to the Pack and saying “goodbye” to Dylan P who is moving up to our Scout Troop.  We wish him well.  We also welcome three new friends who are joining us; William; Isabel and Benjamin. Here’s to another great term!

Please find below the pack diary for the following term.  This term will see us undertaking the following badges:

  • Global Challenge Badge
  • Personal Safety Activity Badge
  • Book Readers Activity Badge

There are some activities for which we need parental help in order that the activity can take place.

Please let me know (preferably by email) if you can help us out – Thank you in anticipation.

  • Visit to Crawley Library on Tuesday 4th March

Would you kindly note that we shall be re-introducing an inspection each week.  We shall be checking for full/ clean uniform/ clean shoes/ basic first aid kit (this can be “home-made”; including 2 or 3 plasters, clean handkerchief, 3 x 20p, a pencil or pen and a sheet of paper)/ water bottle.  Points will be awarded/ deducted accordingly.

We shall be attending Church Parade on the following Sundays at St. Andrew’s:

  • 2nd February
  • 2nd March

Unless otherwise stated please ensure that the Cubs are wearing full uniform to all activities please.

We hope that your cubs will be able to start working on two of the badges during the Christmas holidays:

  • Global Challenge – See attachment – Over a period of 4 weeks help Mum or Dad to recycle as much as possible.   Using the 5 bar gate system of counting (i.e. IIII = 5) make a note of the number of items that you and your family recycled and placed in your red top bin using the graph provided.  Please hand in by 11th February.
  • Book Readers Activity Badge – See attachment – Make a list of six books read or used recently. Name their authors and be able to tell the leader or other members of the Pack something about three of the books. The three books chosen should include at least one fiction and one non-fiction book.

Please make sure that your Cub puts their name on any work that they complete – Thank you

Camp this year will be held from Friday, 11th – Sunday, 13th July.  The cost will be no more than £35.  If you would like to start paying by instalments then please let me know.  I attach an equipment list in case you are looking for some last minute stocking fillers or Christmas presents!
