2012 – 31st August

Dear all
Just a reminder that the Beaver Colony & Cub Pack meetings will resume as from Tuesday, 11th September (5.45pm – 6.45pm & 7pm – 8.30pm respectively) and I attach a copy of the pack diary for the Autumn term.  Both this and the Beaver Programme can also be viewed on the Group web site at www.7thcrawley.co.uk.  The Scout Troop starts again on Friday, 7th September from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
I am co-ordinating the Partnership Faith Award during September and October and all members of the Group; Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are invited to visit the following venues as part of this award:
  • St. Andrew’s Church, Furnace Green – Visit arranged for Tuesday, 25th September 2012 from 6pm to 7pm
  • Sikh Temple, West Green – Visit arranged for Tuesday, 9th October – 5.30pm to 6.30pm
  • Worth Abbey – Visit arranged for Tuesday, 23rd October – 6pm to 7.30pm
  • Broadfield Mosque – Currently attempting to arrange a visit for Tuesday, 13th November – Confirmation of this will be made available when known.
As part of the award it would be necessary for each Section to plan an evening on different faiths as an introduction to the visits and the award itself.  It would be great if, as part of this, we could have some of your work to put on display at the AGM in June 2013 (talk about forward planning!!)  Participants would need to visit 3 of the venues to gain the award.  I would be grateful for as much parental help as possible during the visits to ensure an adequate ratio of adults to young people – my thanks in anticipation.  Please let me know if you can help.
Also,we are organising a coffee morning/ bring and buy on Saturday, 29th September at St. Andrew’s Church, the proceeds of which will go to the Sussex Air Ambulance and KAANA (It will, I hope be similar to the one organised a few years ago at the old church).  I would be grateful for your support on the day (attending and/ or helping) and also  for donations of cakes/ biscuits and items for the bring/ buy.  Again, thank you in anticipation of your support.  Please contact me if you are willing to lend a hand on the morning.  A representative from the Air Ambulance Association will be visiting the Group on Tuesday, 18th September from 6.30pm – 8pm
The Group will continue to support the Let’s Face It Campaign projects on the following Saturdays:
  • 15th September – Burwash Road (10am – 12 noon)
  • 20th October – Burwash Road (10am – 12 noon)
  • 17th November – St. Andrew’s Church (10am – 12 noon)
The web site has had an intensive ‘spring clean’.  I hope that you and your child will take an opportunity of visiting it.  It is the Group web site and belongs to all of us so if you have any suggestions as to what information you would like to see on display please let me know.  Subject to Scout Association guidelines I would be happy to consider all feedback.
As always please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions relating to the Pack or the Group.
Regards
Paul/ Akela
