Beavers

Beavers is for boys and girls aged between 6 and 8, who make up the first section of the Scouting family.

When do we meet?

We meet on Tuesday evenings.

Joining

Under some circumstances, Beavers can join the Colony as young as 5 3/4 if, for example, they have friends joining at the same (and there is space in the Colony). Such decisions are taken by the Group Scout Leader in consultation with the Beaver Scout leaders.

Activities

During their time in the Colony, Beavers will get a chance to try lots of different activities like swimming, music, exploring, computing and collecting.

There are a range of badges available which Beavers can wear on their uniforms to show everyone how well they’re doing.  Please refer to the ‘Badges’ link on our web site.

Beavers also get to go on trips and days out and they will be able to go on sleepovers with the rest of the Colony and take part in all kinds of outdoor activities.

Structure and organisation

A Colony of Beavers is organised into Lodges.  Our Lodges are named after animals and are CHEETAHS, CHIMPS, CROCODILES and LEOPARDS.

The recommended maximum size of a Beaver Colony is 24 Beavers. To meet local circumstance this maximum number may be increased, either in the long term or the short term with the agreement of the Group Scout Leader.
