  • Community Challange

We undertook the requirements of this Challenge Badge and invited someone from the Police Force to come and talk to us.

Community-Chal-1Our local Police Community Support Officers (PCSO’s), Natalie Galvin [Furnace Green] and Michelle Jack [Tilgate] attended our Pack meeting on Tuesday, 30th September.  They told us all about their role in the community, how they can help us and how we can help them!
We were allowed to try on parts of their uniform; the ‘hard hat’ helmet that they are issued with and their high visibility fluorescent jackets – which allow them to be seen from a long way off in the dark.  They are very heavy and have lots of pockets!
Natalie and Michelle also told us some of the jobs they had been called on whilst on duty; from shoplifting to helping to find missing people.
We had lots of questions to ask of them and really enjoyed the evening.

    SOUTH DOWNS WALK
    Saturday, 24th October 2008

West Sussex Scouts asked our district to participate in a promotion with the South Downs Society advertising the launch of their initiative in conjunction with Southern Rail to get young people out on the South Downs Some members of our Pack, together with Akela and a parent helper, Mr Wilson, took a train from Three Bridges to Glynde and then walked back to Lewes where we caught the train home again.  We had a brilliant day!
